Public Relations - What You Don't Understand

knowledgeWhen starting anything new, you need a bench mark.  Often in SEO this is where a website ranks for a certain keyword.  With online PR and reputation management this tends to be about where your website ranks and also what the other websites are saying about you on the first page of the search results.

Most businesses focus on traffic, the real important figures should be conversions.  Which is a better site one with a 10,000 visitors and .5% conversion or one with 500 visitors and 25% conversion rate.  It does not really matter as long as you have a plan to increase the conversion.

So what can effect you sites conversion?

  1. On site, design, calls to action etc on your website.
  2. Off site, what people are saying about your business.

Often with on site conversion people make the following mistakes, re doing a site design without thought of SEO and conversion.  Stop doing PPC because the prices have gone up and focusing on SEO.  Guessing keywords and pages that people are searching and hitting.

Off site what is the perception of your business, is it good, bad or false.  How is this effecting your business, is there an increase or decrease because of it.

Only when you have this information can you start to look at improving your online reputation and ultimately improve business because of it.
