Charles Bernard Rangel, known as 'Charlie Rangel' is an American politician and a twenty-term member of congress, representing New York's 15th district. He is a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus and the first American to become the chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee in January 2007.

Born in Harlem in New York city, he earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star during the Korean War for his services in the United States Army. Also known to be the longest serving African American in Congress, he is one of the best and most liked members of the congress.

Rep. Rangel was included in CREW’s 2008 congressional corruption report due to the series of ethics violations.
