Reputation Crisis and Risk Management, I have placed these two together when evaluating the risk and the cost of not dealing with a online pr issue in a correct fashion.  Reputation crisis and management can have the following issues.

  1. A massive issue due to life, safety and the existence of a corporation.
  2. Time dependant issues where people have to respond quickly.
  3. Unnecessary stress on key staff and people responsible.

Being unprepared can seriously destroy a corporations reputation and make a crisis much worse.  Errors can happen for a numerous reasons from human error to natural disasters.  You only have to see how the weather leading up to Christmas 2009 but Eurostar under immense pressure as their trains failed and customers were left to fend for themselves for 3 days.

Quite often the reputation crises arises not from from the incident but more often from how the company deals with it.

Being open and honest and often showing your understanding of both sides of a crisis can make a massive difference in the outcome.  Reputation Crisis and Risk Management comes down to the speed in which people deal with the crisis.  The 3 P's play an important role, Prevention, Preparation and Provisions.
